Affordable Housing
As developer, owner and manager of its affordable housing units for over 40 years, OCCHC remains committed to the preservation and creation of affordable housing serving families at the extremely low-income level.
Parents struggling to make ends meet often leaves little, if any, resources for learning. SteppingUP’s College Awareness Program (CAP) assists at-risk 6-12th grade students in not just getting to college, but through college.
By strengthening family self-sufficiency, SteppingUP’s Family Mentoring focuses on Adult Education for families in need through the provision of stabilizing their housing, employment and income that will aid in stepping up to market rate housing and homeownership.
Working with local homeless and transitional housing shelters, OCCHC builds upon the continuum of care for families earning an average household income of $30,836 by providing a stable environment conducive to learning and self-improvement.
CAP partners local college interns as Academic Advisors with students representing 22 high schools and 10 middle schools throughout Orange County, who meet one-on-one for weekly academic advising.
OCCHC takes a holistic approach to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing a direct path from homelessness to homeownership. The provision of stable housing and free wrap around services for families in need increases the social, cultural & financial capital needed to step up to break the generational cycle of poverty.
